Transport disrupted as KeNHA clears rock debris on Machakos-Kangundo road

Transport operations along Machakos-Kangundo road have been temporarily halted after the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) camped at the area to remove fallen rock debris that had blocked a section of the road due to bad weather.

Motorists were forced to use alternative routes after the section was closed at Kyamwilu point where danger was looming.

The rock debris had aroused tension of a potential rockslide caused by the heavy downpour that had loosened the soil.

At the famous Kyamwilu Hill, youths who gain a living through demonstrating the bewildering phenomenon on how nature defies gravity to curious motorists said it was crippling their job.

It is here that a bottle of water or even water poured downhill defies the force of gravity and flows upwards endlessly, making it a tourist attraction site.

Last week, the authority had cautioned motorists against potential hazards due to falling rock debris at Kaloleni.
